The NCAA has fined South Carolina and given the Gamecocks three years fo probation for violations including failing to monitor its athletics program,? impermissible recruiting, extra benefits and preferential treatment.
The NCAA?began investigating the Gamecocks in the fall of 2010 when it was uncovered that student-athletes - 10 from football and two from women's track and field - received reduced rates on housing.
